Since 1573 (during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty), the National Cellars for GUOJIAO 1573 has been in uninterrupted production for 452 years. It stands as China's earliest-built, longest-continuously-used, and best-preserved living cultural relic among cellars. A "living artifact" that coexists with the Dujiangyan Irrigation System as marvels of enduring heritage.
In 1996, it was designated by the State Council as the "Key Cultural Relics Under State-Level Protection" and honored as the "National Cellars".
In 2006, 2012, and 2019, it was successively included in the "Tentative List of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage" due to its exceptional contribution to human civilization.
In 2013, Luzhou Laojiao's 1,619 century-old cellars, 16 ancient brewing workshops, along with its three aging caves – Chunyang, Longquan, and Zuiweng were collectively designated as "Key Cultural Relics Under State-Level Protection", placing Luzhou Laojiao at the forefront of the industry in terms of the quantity, scale, and diversity of its recognized cultural relics.
